Aleppo soap-making was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The technique — cold-process, hand-cut, hand-stamped, cave-aged — has been passed between generations of craftsmen for over two millennia.
Avlia's soap is made by Syrian craftsmen working in southern Turkey, following the same four-ingredient formula: virgin olive oil, laurel berry oil, water, lye. No shortcuts. No synthetic additives.
What changes between grades is only the ratio of laurel berry oil — a choice that alters the soap's character, scent, and skin affinity entirely.
Olive oil and laurel berry oil are cold-blended with lye (NaOH) at controlled ambient temperature. No heat — the cold process preserves glycerin and all bioactive compounds.
Fresh soap is block-cut by hand, then individually stamped with a traditional Arabic seal — the same circular motif artisans have used for centuries.
Bars age in a cool, dry environment for a minimum of 6 months. The outer layer oxidizes to the characteristic golden-brown; the interior retains emerald-green chlorophyll from the laurel oil.
Each bar is individually boxed in circular-window kraft packaging with full INCI declaration, EAN barcode, net weight, and multilingual directions of use.

Every commercial skincare product comes with a Period After Opening symbol. Aleppo soap inverts this logic entirely — it does not degrade with time. It matures.

The number on an Aleppo soap bar is not a quality rating. It is not "more is better." It is a specification — a description of the soap's character and intended use.
